How do we go forward in a world that has drastically changed? The buildings all look the same, our streets look the same. We, however, are very different people. We have and continue to weather an unimaginable storm and I know I have often thought being beauty-focused was inappropriate and trivialized what the world is going through. I’m even having that very conversation with myself as I write this!
While I’m not running our to buy the hottest shade of lipstick for Spring/Summer 2020. I am very interested in Self Care right now. Like many of you, I have been taking advantage of all the new content on social media and a message has come through loud and clear. In troubled times Self Care is extremely important.
As beauty industry professionals we are caregivers. Now that we are on pause we need to treat ourselves as well as we treat our clients. We could take this time and start a daily practice that carries over after we are able to be out and about. We might begin with yoga or meditation. A 20-minute respite may be all we have time for, that’s why I like Sara Ivanhoe’s Yoga Body Series. We can focus on eating better and hydration. For something more chill, take time for a sheet mask and a cup of tea. Read a book from your to-read pile. It doesn’t matter what you do. It matters that you include yourself in your plans.
