Makeup For A Fabulous Fall

Whether your working or you’re hunkered down at home, this summer has been super busy! It’s Mid-August and while the temperatures and humidity may be on the rise. I am very much focused on fall…Do you smell that,  sweater weather is coming and it’s time to get ready! A few trends have caught my eye. Let’s discuss them below.

Foundation: Matte foundation has never been my thing, I like the finish of MAC Face And Body, I’ve used it for years. This summer however I’ve been having a fling with Glossier Skin Tint and I like it, like it. It has the perfect amount of your skin but better coverage and while I will continue to use them both. Fall and Winter have a more formal feel so I’m going to give Mented  Stick Foundation and Bronzer a go.

Red Lips: You can not go wrong with a red lip. A matte red is a favorite as the temperature starts to dip. If you’re thinking “I could NEVER wear red lipstick. I understand I used to feel the same way.  I assure you, there really is a red for everyone! Cruela by Nars and Ruby Woo by MAC are my go-to reds, but if that feels like too much go for a lip stain. It will fair better under a mask than a gloss. Who would have thought we would ever have to consider a mask when choosing a lip product.  This Fall I thought I’d expand my lip palette and MAC Marrakesh to my Fall lineup I like the warm orange tone it has.

Dark Lips: A vampy lip matte or glossy is always a good call, Nars Fire Down Below deep red and it is beautiful. With a campy lip you can go as deep and dark as you like. Maybe, just maybe I’ll go all out on a limb and try a black lip.  Elf Black Out liquid lipstick is a cheap and cheerful way to dip my toe in the dark waters.

  1. Blush: A sweep of blush on the cheek can shape your face and finish your makeup like nothing else. Warm or deep you can’t go wrong, Taj Mahal is warm and a beautiful classic. Elf has a line of Primer Infused Blushes that are worth looking at too. The drug store always has great options at affordable prices. ELF’s  Always Firey and Always Spicey are my drug choices for the upcoming season.

Liquid Liner: It’s been quite a while since I’ve worn liquid liner, but it’s been calling to me. I might try NYX Epic Ink Liner or 100% Pure Long Last Liquid Liner. Whatever brand I choose I’m going to go with brown, black seems a little harsh as I’ve gotten older.

Eye Shadow: I’m not very adventurous with shadows give me a matte neutral palette and I’m happy. I was a big fan or the KVD Beauty Shade and Light Palette. For this fall the ELF Pumpkin Pie Mini Shadow Palette will work its way into the fall rotation, it’s warm but not so far out of my comfort zone.

What makeup do you bring back into the rotation in the fall, and what if anything new will you be picking up for the coming season? Let me know in the comments below.
